Few Friends on the Fallen Tree

image

This fallen oak tree could handle many many more friends.  I think this old tree in my back yard loved the attention and the laughter of these climbers and huggers.

Black Bear – Black Bear What Do You See?

image

I set a bunch of college kids and one older woman staring at me.  They are racing around the house, hiding behind their cars, grabbing their cameras trying to get a picture of me.
I decided to pose because this is my beach neighbor of St. Teresa, Florida.

Hmmm

image

I have had more exciting times than I have had lately.  I can’t quite figure me out.  I’m not bored, I’m really quite content, embracing life and what it is offering to me.  I have met some wonderful new people in Tallahassee, friends and opportunities abound, it is just me.  I am in a stage of wonder.

Questioning is a good thing, wondering with curiosity is good too, I think.  I’m not sure why I like strips and plaids together but sometimes I do.

My New HQ

image

How cool is this for a work place?  It is my new headquarters and one of the pools for Water AerobiCA.  The City of Tallahassee has an incredible aquatic program.  I’m an instructor, this is my third week on the job. It is true, I’m a rookie, but if effort and enthusiasm count I’m all over it.  I will keep you posted, but in the meantime I am learning and loving the challenge and of course the moving in the water.

A big shout out to our precious instructor Betty who moved to central Florida.  We love and miss her so much.  We will always hear her voice, her brilliant instruction and of course her message to “keep moving”.

Winter Gardening without Winter

image

Eash morning I sit at my kitchen table window and this is a portion of my view.  The weeds have ruled this summer with the heat, tons of rain, humidity and mosquitos. I always lose my love for gardening in the summer and wonder if I will ever gain that passion back.
This weekend there was a coolness in the air and I took charge, well sort of.  I know it is only a small portion, but four big wheel barrels of weeds are gone.       It is too soon to tell, but winter gadening came in August this year, let’s see where it goes from here.

Dedicated to Paula

image

My Morning Glory bush is now blooming.  Hurrah!  I can’t say it is breath taking, but it is August, dog days of summer as they say.  It is practically the only color other than green in the back yard with a few knock out roses and zinnas hanging in there, of course.  I’m jumping for joy,  I’m happy it was worth the wait.

Thanks Paula for sharing this idea with me way back in the spring.  I’m inspired by spring seeds this year and  I’m always inspired by you.

A Special Garden Moment with Amy

image

Amy leaves for University of Central Florida this week.  It is a big week for her and we are going to miss her, but here’s her support team wishing her the very best.  I think everyone needs a support team, I know I do.  Go Amy.  Go Team.  Go Knights.
PS.  Amy’s on the left, the photographer.

A Sunflower Seed

It is hard to believe how this happens from a tiny seed, but a beautiful six foot+ sunflower so tall bursting with color.  This sunflower picture is from Laura’s garden in Brooklyn, NY.  What a moment.

My Shadow Knows

image

I’ve been playing this week.  Riding bikes, swimming, playing with Legos, playing Crazy 8’s, War, Old Maid, reading kids books, going to the park.  I’ve taken a two night road trip with a special 4 and 6 year Frank and PJ.  We have gone on a factory tour at Jelly Belly Jelly Bean Factory and took bumper boat rides until our tickets were gone and then some.
I’ve played with a special little 1 year old too, can’t leave Adelle out who loves being active, always smiling, laughing and simple things like being with her family.
Oh my, my shadow knows it all.  My shadow knows me pretty well.
