This past weekend on Pensacola Beach, the wind was perfect for high kite flying and surfing. We chose kite flying. What an experience, one couldn’t fail, it was a breeze! We got two days out of those $2.99 kites and everyone walked away feeling like a pro. Can’t you see in this picture of PJ?

Today we were on the beach at Pensacola Beach, Florida. Adelle is eight months, sitting on the beach, feeling the sun on her face and the wind in her hair. She is a beauty!

From this picture, Frankie might not look that high up, but with his 3′ 2″ self, he is up there. Just taking turns, soaking it up, seeing his world from a 10’+ ladder, taking a different perspective, looking in all directions and of course taking some risks.

We were having snack in the Indian Voyager, our canoe, we eyed this branch, about 10+ feet off the ground, down wind from the canoe. We needed the ladder to investigate the branch and other things. There are more adventures ahead so keep reading and keep your creativity close by.

A roll-e poll-e update is in order. This five and three year old were completely focused this morning on filling a small jar full of you guessed it, roll-e poll-ies, pronounced that way with the accent on the E. I love their curious minds, their imagination and how they view the world. They are amazing, a lesson in child-like behavior.

Living life in the backyard where the hammock is a sailboat, the sticks are arrows for web control, the paths are race tracks, the up side down bouncey chairs are hide-outs. It is an experience of eating, doing crafts, painting, making music, building small fires of collected sticks and shooting hoops for March Madness.

Family time at the beach brings sand between your toes, but what are you going to do? It also brings memories of digging a hole big enough to sit in, collecting sea shells, running from the waves, talking about stuff and rekindling our love for each other, walking out on the pier together, hearing that peaceful sound of the ocean and feeling peace on the inside too.

This week my “grands” have been visiting. My wooded backyard does provide a natural playground of wonder. Here the three year old had chased and now was in search of a little lizard he was trying to catch. Luckily he got away, the little lizard that is.

I had a committee meeting in this garden cottage this morning. I think this might be the best kept secret in Tallahassee. It is almost perfect with blooming trees and shrubs. The dogwood is even blooming. Spring is here.
