Intense

image

I had just pitched my first horseshoe of a new game yesterday morning.  My follow through looks a little intense, tight-like.  Why?  Why am I biting my lip?  I don’t know.

I do like playing horseshoes.  I grew up watching my mom and dad play when our family would get together.  For some reason, I got my dad’s horseshoes after he died.  I played with them yesterday.

HaPpy New Year 2016!

image

Here we are decorating our New Year’s Eve glasses.  I mean serious decorating with stickers, markers, tags of preparation.  So much thought and creativity went into these little glasses.  It was sweet to watch this one portion of the celebration and the anticipation of what was to come.

I am an adult now, I know, but I want more child-like behaviors in my life with hidden creativity, even anticipating the JOY that might be ahead.  Sweetest celebration ever!

Nimbus Fish Hatchery

image

While in Sacramento, CA this week, Jamie took this picture of Adelle.  She is standing behind either a trout or salmon.  What’s clear and without doubt are the pink boots and the precious feet inside.   #nimbusfishhatchery

Sunset from Staten Island

image

My daughter Laura just sent this photo to me.   She’s visiting Staten Island today, we are on the phone talking, she keeps referring to the beautiful sunset, over and over.  You know, “take a picture it will last longer”?  So she did.  Oh my!

My Copeland Family

image

Every other summer my family gathers in a family member’s back yard for a weekend.  This summer 2015, we celebrated together at Sheila and Monte’s home in Austin, Texas.   It was awesome, such a family memory I’ll never forget.  We made history.

I feel so blessed to belong to this family and to my own little family.  I guess I’m a family kind of person.  I like the feeling family brings me.   From my heart, I am Susanne Fortune, a family woman.

Energizing Smiles!

image

Here is another swim class this week  feeling energized after the hour class.  The water was 74° but once we get started it doesn’t take long for our bodies to warm up.
On this day, we were celebrating Leeanna’s birthday by going down the kiddie pool slide, then the guards blew the whistle in us!!!

Lego Towers

image

There’s something about building towers from the scrap Lego bricks that I like.  I call them scrap bricks because they are the bricks at the bottom of the Lego storage box no one ever uses.

I think these structures might be miniature art museum models someplace especially the middle one.  Or maybe not, just play along with me.

Gardening = Life

image

I could have waited to post this garden once it was all cleaned up, but no I have to just put it out there.  It is a mess, so am I.  Honestly I like this part of gardening.  I like the cleaning up, the digging and pulling overgrown plants, weeds and pitching them out.  For the summer I planted sunflowers in the entire garden with a few zinnas and cosmos.  I loved all the bouquets this garden provided me and others over the summer.

The bees and butterflies loved this garden too.  Fall is around the corner so I’m out here making a mess and doing what I love to do, but I needed a quick rest.  Ok, back to the garden and life.  Both have provided me many lessons.  I’m thankful.  The lesson today is I’m planting Larkspur, California Poppies and Nasturtiums for the fall and taking a chance with life and on and on.
