Blue Sky

image

4:00pm Thursday afternoon feeling the California heat with no humidity, there is a slight breeze and this blue sky.  Beautiful.

What makes it better is my grands and I sit under this deck umbrella and play cards like Spoons, Up the River Down the River, Speed.  We drink iced water, life is good.

Today only a short time of card playing, so this was my view.  Life is still very good.

Canon -ball

image

Remember a canon-ball?  I do too, but not at three years old.  Here Adelle is showing her diving skills off the diving board.  She’s quite good.

Now the famous airplane trick with her Popa.  Adelle is an awesome swimmer, diver and performer.  Of course I give her a 10.

At the Helm…Really?

image

I love this picture, but there is more than meets the eye, really?  Lake Travis, Austin,Texas, July 30, 2015.  Poledancer is racing Nirvana, a lightening storm comes quickly towards the ships.  How can you tell we are in a storm?  One clue might be the horizon another might be to look at the drinks!!

I am at the helm or am I?  Look closely, I was at the helm, now I’m hanging on for dear life.  Kurt takes the helm!!   I love this picture and the memory.

Sunflower Garden

image

In my garden, I planted this precious small variety of sunflowers.  They are growing between 7′ to 8′ tall and are so cute.  This garden is on the back of my property, but I can see the flowers from my kitchen window, what a delight.

I have never been one to plant seeds but this year even in the heat, I gave it a try.  I planted them in the early summer, really too late, but I was determined to paid close attention, thin when ready and gently water the garden every morning.

Yay!  I’m feeling like a farmer.

Copeland Family Reunion

image

In Austin, Texas this weekend our family gathered together, it was hosted by my brother and sister-in-law, Monte and Sheila.  What a special time with family from TX, CO, WA, TN, IN, FL and NY.

We started this family reunion tradition in 2009 with a commitment to keep our families connected in a simple old fashion way.  The host family invites us to their home/backyard, where we talk, hang out, grill, eat, play games, sing karaoke,  have a family business meeting, reconnect with each other for the weekend.  Our reunions each year get better and better.

This year Monte and Sheila offered the invitation to extend our stay, twelve accepted.  Stay tune….awesome Austin.

Black & Blue Salvia

image

I’m not sure what is going on this spring, but my gardens are going wild.  This wild garden is packed full of Salvia and Roses.

The fragrance is incredible.   Dinner invitation extended to the butterflies and hummingbirds in the neighborhood.

Crazy Dancing Bunnies

These solar bunnies are in my front window.  They make the sweetest sound and I believe there is potential for rain this afternoon due to their little dance.

My front yard / bocce ball court looks great, doesn’t it?  The gardens look great too.  I’ve planted lots of leather-leaf fern this spring.  (Thanks Diane Roorda).  I’m  trying to choke out all weeds with the fern thickness, I’m not sure and not holding my breath.

Back to the dancing bunnies, I’m positive the clouds are coming in, I’m headed to the back.

I Love Winter Gardening

image

This week I have had some unexpected time so my heart has taken me to the soil to do some winter gardening.  I love the soil, to dig, to trim, to pull weeds, to  garden is in my blood.  Winter gardening is perfect to do the above and my heart needed some thinking time.

I have this young Lauren Tudor Camellia Tree smiling at me in the area I am working.  She is like a fresh bouquet sitting right in the middle of my studio.

If you garden or create in one venue or another, you will understand that once I got started my mind and heart took me places I never expected.  Now three days into this (hard work) project I’m so entergized by a couple of ideas and outcomes. These are not new ideas but they have surfaced again and the timing seems perfect.  Stay tune!

That is the beauty of HEART work, it doesn’t even feel like work.  Do you get me?  Are you still reading?
