Most of the moments she was moving. Several pictures I took of her are blurred alittle because of her constant travel. This picture I caught her in a stare. I’m sure she has her eyes on her brothers, or her mom or papa. But for that moment she stopped, looked, listened, then she was on her way. Every moment is important. Her moment, my moment, wow I wish I had another moment. I’m missing her.

Happy Birthday Cha-Cha-Cha!
Jamie’s birthday was yesterday. I love her birthday, love her too. Sweet and simple, a great weekend with her in the most beautiful birthday dance a mom could have with her daughter. Lovely. We attended the Prism Concert at FSU on Saturday, a long standing tradition since middle school. What a pleasure.
King Cake
We had to have a piece of King Cake to celebrate Mardi Gras yesterday @ Atwater’s Market. No baby, just cake. Sprinkles on each piece, the Purple means Justice, Green means Faith and Gold means Power. I got mostly green sprinkles on my piece, but a little bit of gold and purple. I guess I’m covered.
Patisserie Poupon
Just a delightful French pastry this morning, tradition francaise, of course. I’ll take one of those, please.

DiPasquale’s – Edition #2

Picture this. DiPasquale’s is an Italian authentic Marketplace in the neighborhood of Highlandtown in Baltimore. Here gorgeous Italian men and women, ok for now let’s just say gorgeous Italian men are there behind the counter and in the marketplace. Back to the Italian Marketplace where one walks up to the glass counter to order any number of beautifully prepared Italian items for lunch. Now back to the Italian men who are genuinely beautiful as well.
Yesterday this young Italian man, wanted to take my order, I say, I will take that one. I pointed to a beautiful salad on the counter. The beautiful Italian young man said it is only lettuce ma’am. I say, it is so beautiful, I think that is just what I want.
Indirectly I got what I ordered. Got the picture?

Baltimore – First Snow Storm

On Friday, we closed the office at 4:00 pm, snow had started to fall, temps had been in the teens and twenty’s all week, the weather was predicted to get bad and the schools had closed early. I did not argue with anyone, I was headed home.
I’m standing at my bedroom window, looking between the carports, watching the headlights on I-83 packed with cars going both N and S, I was glad I came on home. I know I am a sissy. Funny, but not funny as people at the office said, “everyone will stop by the grocery and load up on milk, bread and water…those shelves will be emptied out.” I didn’t stop.
Temps are still low, we did get snow, but the cold and blustery winds do take me back to my Indiana and Ohio blizzard days.
It is always interesting to me about memories, they don’t go away. I am collecting more memories here in Baltimore and tucking them away in my warm winter coat.
Jamie’s Gerber Daisy
Jamie sent me this picture this week from her front garden. Every so often, about each three-four months we clean up her garden beds. There is nothing like a little refreshing of the soil, trimming up the old plants and adding some new ones that work for the season. You know, gardening 101, but it is more for me. I love that Jamie in her own way likes flower and square foot gardening. It is fun spending time with her in her yard. It is a bonus, so thanks Jamie.
DiPasquale’s
Doesn’t this warm your soul? Love having lunch here, yesterday a huge crabcake sandwich. Delicious!! The atmosphere of this market and quaint cafe that sits in the middle of the market, right in front of this brick oven. Who can ask for more? Best seats in the house, deep in the heart and neighborhood Highlandtown in Baltimore.
January 21, 2013

What a day! It is a big day in the life of our country, so a big day in the lives of “we the people”. I have found a church here in Baltimore that I had heard about, a community church in the neighborhood of Sandtown. New Song Community Church @ http://www.nsc-church.org
The mission statement defines itself “as a multicultural community-based church committed to loving God and loving our neighbors in our Sandtown community by ministering comprehensively through a church-based Christian Community Development model…of walking in the good works God has prepared in advance…”
Yesterday our pastor, Dr. Thurman Williams made reference to Martin Luther King in his sermon on reconciliation. The pastor described this church of 12 years as a multicultural church, not just about race and the color of one’s skin, but it is a church that invites a multi-level of differences, i.e. men, women, young, old, different professionals, highly skilled and unskilled, those with jobs and those looking for a job, people born in this country and not, the church welcomes people from different states in the United States, welcomes the churched and the un-churched.
New Song Community Church not only worships God, but focuses on doing justice together in the neighborhood of Sandtown, where people of the church are encouraged to move into and live in Sandtown. As I see it New Song Community is instrumental in rebuilding this community. The church is the foundation from which other programs emanate like Habit for Humanity, Community Learning Centers, Family Health Services, Mental Health Services, Newborn/Mother’s Place groups, etc. The goal of this Christian community development is the empowerment of the individuals and the community itself.
It has been awesome to worship at New Song Community Church, a highlight of my week actually. This church reflects the world, not just a piece of it. Pastor Williams said yesterday, that the church should be a practicing place so we can go back into the world. That is perhaps another post as I have a lot of practice to do. I think this is what Dr. Martin Luther King was talking about in his Freedom Speech, about, he was talking about God’s love and calling us to love (at least practice) loving our neighbors.
