Shoe size? Size 12…please.

We have a shoe store in Tallahassee called The Shoe Box.  This store is family owned and operated.   I like that.   I shop there, sometimes I walk out with a part of shoes and sometimes I don’t.  The store’s slogan is “we fit the hard to fit”.  That would be me, I wear size 12 shoe.  Finding the shoes I want puts me in the category of hard to fit.

No one in my family has small feet, how firm a foundation you might say.    We were blessed with a firm foundation.   Today I found a pair of sandals.  I settled actually, they were not the ones I wanted, they are the ones I needed.   I needed a pair of sandals.

I parked my car in front of this sign on their building.  I bet I could have easily found a shoe box to fit me as the sign infers.

Thinking about my Mom!

There’s something about a red geranium.  Is it just me or do you feel the same about a red geranium?  This one came from one of Cheryl’s front gardens.  When I see a red geranium, I think of my mom.  I can’t help it.  Mother knew how to made them big and make the red pop.

It was no secret.   Everyone knew Mom’s trick was Miracle Grow, every four weeks.

Cheryl and her 6 Peeps

The first of June, I traveled to visit my cousin Cheryl.  Cheryl had agreed to be my guest on Susanne’s Garden Moments, an internet radio show of mine.  I like to do the show live with interesting people doing interesting things outdoors, this was an opportunity to meet Cheryl and Keith in their new adventure raising peeps.

There are 6 chickens, 2 Ameracauna (or something like that) and 4 Buff Orpington’s.  Cheryl is the type to provide the perfect peep coop and living environment.  Yesterday one peep named Martha, laid the first egg.  Congratulations Martha.

Oh yes, here’s another thing about this type of peep.  They lay colored eggs, this one was green.  Let’s hear it from Martha.

#2 – June 7th, 2011

Last Sunday, June 5th I took the picture below and posted it.  Something new every morning is the title, but I didn’t think much about it.   I was surprised just to see it, it was a nice surprise as I don’t ever remember seeing this lily in my back yard.

This week, I have been able to watch the unfolding of this Easter Lily.  This is #2 in the series taken on Tuesday, June 7th.

I am not a photographer, but fascinated by all three blooms.  It’s the little things and the surprises that nature brings that I find so delightfulIs it Easter? Does that mean it is time for Spring Break?.

…new every morning

Maybe not that special, an unopened flower, probably often missed.

Thanks for sharing these backyard moments with me.  There is something about a morning garden, it is the freshness I guess.  It reminds me to keep my eyes open looking for a new beginning.   OK, maybe not all that, but I would have missed this unopened lily if I hadn’t gone out there.  Know what I mean?

It is a new day and that is a good thing as nature provides something new and fresh.  This lily will probably open today, but oh the anticipation for now.  Check out the little spider in her web just hanging there, smiling of course.  I am so glad I didn’t miss this moment.

Congratulations – new life of a Sabal Palm

There is something about new life.  This sabal palm in my back yard is located in one of my gardens.  Each spring it shoots up this new light green growth and it provides quite a statement.  It screams…I am new, I am beautiful, I am fresh, I am growing quickly, take a picture of me…don’t wait.  So I took a picture.

Cottage in the Garden Sale

This weekend on Friday afternoon and Saturday, I am having another Cottage in the Garden Sale.  The times are Friday (Noon-5:00pm) and Saturday (9:00 am – 4:00 pm).   Sixty + people came through the “store” last month and I am expecting the same kind of turn out.

We need the rain so bad, but if the sun is shining, I will be here at 1306 Betton Road in the garden, with consignment furniture and cottage accessories.  Watch for the signs on Betton Road and I will be watching for you.
