Barn Party Prep

image

There is something about a barn party.  I love it, but remember I love barns.  This barn and stable came alive last night in only a way a barn can.  It just seems to bring out the yee-haw in people.  Perhaps it is the fresh air, the bonfire, the music, the cowboy/cowgirl get-up, the apple dunking or pie eating contest, who knows?
It was a fun and funny night.

A Special Broach of Mine

image

I really love to wear a broach.  Cool weather clothing seem to make it more suitable.  Fall weather is here, the broach collection is coming out of the closet.
This little sweetheart was a gift from Monte and Sheila a few years back.  It  is so artsy and I think it looks like me.  I’m not that was the intent, but I love the outcome.

Goodbye Art Class ’71!

image

I said goodbye to this paper mache art project from college this week.  There comes a point of letting things go.  It is a freedom thing I guess.

Converted Tobacco Barn

I remember tobacco barns like this converted one.  I remember the structure, the smell, the process, pulling the loaded tractor in one door out the other with men and boys swinging the loaded tobacco sticks up the rafters to dry.

A ’50’s Glider

image

I guess a glider is what it is called or what I’ve always called it.  It looks like new, huh?  It isn’t, just freshly painted and nearly ready for a glide.

Open window into my World

image

This morning after reading and seeing everyone’s happy smiling faces from their celebrating last night, I was glad to have a little extra reflection time.  I ask myself, am I just boring?  Should I have partied hard last night too?  I open my kitchen window to one piece of my world, take a seat at my kitchen table and ponder a moment.

I look out at the yellows, purples, reds, pinks and blues in the garden that’s blooming even with the dryness and I continue to ponder.

Maybe I have experienced a little dryness too.  Maybe I need a little rain too.  Or maybe I just need some extra time to look out, count my blessings to the bigger part and ponder that for a moment.

I’m here, feeling my own smile, watching the butterflies too and I feeling the rain coming shortly.

Susanne’s Garden Moments – NOT

image

I use to have a radio show.  Yeah, can you believe it?  You are right, it was Susanne’s Garden Moments.  I loved that chapter, the show was about my garden, of course about Susanne and about my moments.  The real thread was about the relationships I had with people in my garden and in theirs.

Recently I took a job with the City of Tallahassee teaching Water Aerobics.  We build muscle mass and strength our endurance by swimming and moving in the water using the water as our weights.

A new chapter for me, a new kind of creativity, energy, a new feeling of being alive and fit.  And I’m having some new moments.  The real thread again is about the relationships, getting to know people with a common interest and passion.

No radio show, but I’m feeling inspired.

P is for Poppy

image

My family in Breckenridge, CO has the most beautiful summer gardens.  This poppy is one of their last burst of color as autumn is on its way.  Those Colorado mountain perennials know their time is short and sweet.  They really know how to put on a show.
