Water Aerobic Instructor

image

I’m with Betty, one of my Water Aerobic Instructors.  Betty is the cute one on the right.  She has been teaching Water Aerobics for a long time.  Talk about being in shape and fit, looking young, having tons of energy and motivating us to push and pull the weight of water around for an hour each class, it is no wonder she looks so fantastic. Betty is a machine.   Keep moving and keep those knees high and abs tight ring in my head even if she is not around.

We said goodbye with our best wishes to Betty this morning as she is moving closer to family.  We love her, I know I do.  Without even knowing it, she has made an incredible impact on me and how I look at life-long fitness.  We are going to miss her, she is a dynamo in and out of the water.

Look at the Magnitude

image

The enormousness (my thesaurus confirms this word) of these fallen trees are just that.  Most people do not think of Florida with such incredible hard wood trees.  They exist or at least my #1 and #2 did, they were laurel oaks.
#2 is still laying peacefully in my neighbor’s back yard, grounded there in its new resting place.   My neighbors are going to use it as a natural playscape for our grandchildren. It is embraced within our joint garden theme, some new yard art, natural sculpture  we now share.  It is beautiful.

Happy Birthday Laura

image

Jamie took this picture of Laura and I while we were in Nashville a couple of weeks ago.  I remember that evening, this picture, that pose, the loud laughing and being together with my girls.  Loved it!

Laura’s birthday is tomorrow.  She is my youngest daughter.  Laura is an extremely talented young woman who always seems to embrace every moment and opportunity.  She has a beauty and passion for life which can not be hidden.  I love you, babe.  Happy Birthday Laura, you are the birthday girl.

Meet Yetti

image

Yetti is an Alpaca.  He is a sweetheart, I met him this week, I loved his red hair.  It helped us to connect and have some thing to talk about.
The Alpaca is about half the size of a llama, they are shy and quiet, easy to train and extremely intelligent.
I loved it most when we made eye contact.

#2 Oak Tree Falls – July 4, 2013

image

My #1 Oak Tree fell in March 2013.  On Thursday # 2 went down.  This picture is #2 but looks exactly like #1.  Tallahassee has experienced so much rain in 2013 especially over the last  month.  The ground is saturated and we haven’t had enough sun before the next day’s rain.  The sound of a chain saw is getting to be the norm.
I have been afraid this would happen.  These huge oak trees in my yard have lived a long long life.  #1 chose to lay down in my back yard, #2 decided to fall in my neighbor’s back yard.
There is 60% chance of rain today, the sun is shining now for the moment.  Honestly, it just starting raining and that is the truth.

What? A Clump of Mistletoe!

image

Where did this clump of mistletoe come from, I asked myself this morning.  Honestly here it is, a big clump in my backyard.  Hmmm.  I hung it in one of my camellia trees.  Maybe it is a sign from above!

Here I am, ready for it to happen.  I will keep you posted.

Best Friend’s T-Shirt

image

I mailed this t-shirt to my best friend today.  Of course it is too little, the store didn’t have it in our size.  I just couldn’t resist getting it.  We are life-long friends, we even look alike, dress alike, we know each other probably better than anyone knows us.  We’ve been through alot together.  Life has hard times, I’ve needed her, she has needed me.
Ok. I digress, oh ya the shirt?  Now look close, she is on the left and I’m on the right.  No, I’m on the left and she is on the right.  No, right, left, right, left….

VBS – 2013

image

VBS Report.  I’ve been helping in VBS this week serving snacks to the children.   VBS has changed over the years, it is a good thing.  There are 457 in attendance each day.  It is a sweet job. This is Isaac, he said I could take his picture.

Popsicle Report.  The purple and blue popsicles seemed to be the favs.  Remember how they would turn your lips blue or your  tongue purple?  Guess what?  That has NOT changed in 2013.

Family Reunion 2013 – Nashville, Tennessee

image

When we were kids in southeastern Indiana, we had a family reunion of my mother’s side the last Sunday of June each year.   Mother was an Elston, there were seven children in her family and everyone lived in that area. Times have changed.
My brothers and I live in Texas, Florida, Indiana, Tennessee and Colorado.  Since 2007, we started coming together from all over for a weekend with our families.  This year we met in Tennessee with nearly 35 family member’s present from 10 states.  What a weekend, what a family. See you in 2015 when we meet in Austin,Texas.
