Hampden’s 34th Street

image

Baltimore has some very unique neighborhoods. Hampden is one of them and I have to tell you this row house is just one within one block of serious decoration and celebration of the holiday season. I mean serious. It is art. I’ve been twice, 34th Street during the holidays even the prep for the holidays is worth the price of this free art museum. Brilliant.

Still Traces of Fall

My routine walk on Saturday morning with Jamie was an extra treat in this valley in the Roland Park area. The fall leafs just showed up. I love this spot because if you look close through the trees you can see a small cottage. It is about the size of a one car garage. See where I am going with this? Of course two stories, perhaps a loft above, but I can picture a small cozy cottage similar to this tucked away in my backyard. Guess what? I’m standing in the window waving at you!!

Port of Baltimore (again)

image

I passed by these two ladies this morning going to work. How do they do it? How do they park these vessels so close in such a small parking zone? How do they drive these things? How? In my pure amazement, where am I going with all of this? I’m not sure. The truth is I probably wanted you to see what I see on my way to work.

Thanksgiving Memory

image

Here’s to memories. Let’s give it up for Thanksgiving as it is usually just about food and family or the other way around. I’m going through my memory bank this morning, I’m glad I banked this simple shot. Thanksgiving in Baltimore, they cooked, I wandered in and out of the little kitchen. Now banking that sweet memory of my precious daughters cooking and serving me a delicious Thanksgiving dinner with such love. Thank you for this wonderful memory feeling.

West-word to Leesburg, Virginia

image

Just a word or two about my day. I’m going to take a trip to see my family, Patricia, Floh and family who live in Leesburg, Virginia. The bonus is Gene and Jo Copeland from Breckenridge, CO are there visiting so I am getting the whole package. I think the Navigator tool is awesome, but there is something about a good old fashion map. I like a bird’s eye view as they say to see what is around me. I’ll go north to Frederick, then south to Leesburg, 1 1/2 hours away, should be a beautiful drive on Hwy 15. Something about family time, I find it takes some maturity, introspection, willingness to listen and a desire to seek their wisdom. I can learn so much about me through their words and love. It is another kind of map for me, I guess. I never thought about it that way, a bird’s eye view in kind of a map of life. I wonder if they think the same about me?

Walking and Dreaming in Roland Park

My routine walk with Jamie on Saturday morning was extra special.  Here in one valley of the Roland Park area, the fall leafs just showed off.

can see a small cottage tucked away.  Looks like it might have originally been a one car garage.  See where I am going with this?
Of course it has two levels, maybe a loft but I can see a similar little cozy cottage
nestled in my backyard gardens.  Please join me there.  OK?

Brooch

Isn’t this sweet? My brother Monte gave this to me several years ago. It is one of those things you look at and you just can’t help but smile. Know what I mean? Are you smiling?
I think this brooch looks like me and I am guessing he thought the same when he purchased it. It isn’t an old brooch, but one with such character and personality.
I am wearing it today and smiling….

Good Morning!

I love mornings wherever I am; I guess it is my style. I wake up early make my coffee and I sit here and wake up. I don’t want to forget this, but how can I? I am in Baltimore and my life is different here, I mean I am the same, but there are little distractions and it is quite still especially on the weekends. Oh I go out a lot; I am around people, but still very still. Honestly, I like it, I like seeing the city and countryside, I like observing and listening to other’s conversations. Paying attention can be fun and funny at times.
Anyway, here is my morning place. I have a similar morning place in Tallahassee, but here I can really feel the quietness and that is important for me to remember. Being busy all the time is not healthy for me, busy-ness is exhausting.
I have my coffee here, I lite my crackling candle, my Hurricane Sandy Lamp, watch the sunrise from my outdoor view and wake up to other sweet reminders of life. It is peaceful as my life has not always been so silent.
Anyway, here is my morning place. I almost always read a little OT, a little NT, a Psalm, a Proverb and journal a little. It just keeps me focused and gives me focus.
It is here each morning I think (and pray) for my family, friends and my day, not in a “Dear God” sort of way, more like “YIKES!” kind of way. It is good I think, make sense?
